Lazy "S" Fox Trotter Horse Farm

Our farm is located about three miles east, outside of a small town called Fordland, Missouri. We aren't a big fancy place, but our horses are well taken care of and the horses are happy. That is important to us. We have a small four stall barn, and a area right across from my front door the mares foal in unless the weather's bad then we put them in the barn. We rather them be out side to foal if possible. We fill this is more natural. And the mares like it better. They have plenty of room to run and play when we are not training them.

I've loved horses since I was a little girl and the first horse my dad had was a gaited horse. When I met my husband he had a fox trotter and we have stuck with this breed for the easy riding and nature of them.

Our foals are all played with as soon as they hit the ground. I do love those babies. Before weaning they have had clippers used on them so as not to be afraid and had baths. We mess with their feet and by all means plenty of brushing.

After weaning we work the foals in the round pin and even have a little saddle we put on them at about four months. As they grow we gradually put a heavier saddle on them. This way they are used to weight. They are ground drove had a bridle in their mouth and about ready to get on and go down the road.

None or our horses have ever bucked or reared. They love being around people and attention.
