RAGBRAI XXXI

July 20th - 26th2003

Ragbrai XXXI was dedicated to two wonderful riders.

Lisa

Jeff

This years ride was dedicated to two wonderful people. Lisa and Jeff were not with us on this ride, but will be back riding with us in the future. Lisa, a cancer survivor, and Jeff who was in an accident last November, were missed but never forgotten.

Lisa rides with Team H.O.T but is really a dawg. She has been a friend of mine for three years. I have really enjoyed her competitive spirit and athletic ability. I missed her this year and our team missed her. Ragbrai is Ragbrai because of the wonderful friendships you form. Then the rekindling of those friendships each year when Ragbrai comes around again. To be able to spend a week with all your special friends and ride across Iowa is just spectacular. This year to a relapse of cancer, I missed my friend, but because of her inner strength and awesome physical drive, she is recovering and will be with us again next year. Lisa - this is to you. Get well my friend and we will see you next year. Love, RedDogs.

Jeff or as teams call him, JunkYardDog is one of those people you will never forget once you meet him. He is a gentle giant. He can walk into a crowded bar and ask for a beer and people jump to serve him. He is one of the strongest riders in the RedDogs and one of the nicest also. Last November, Jeff was in a pedestrian accident. While he is recovering, Jeff is in a wheel chair and working on walking again. Ragbrai will never be the same until the BigDog gets back on his bike and joins us. Jeff, you are always on our minds and we cannot wait until you are back with us again. Jeff, here's to you!!!

From Left to Right: Dan (Dan-O), Jim (WheelMan), Dan (RocketMan), Belinda (Belinda), Rich (TD), Art (DriverArt), Roger (HotWheels), Alan (ButtDr.).
